Fire is one of the most important elements for human survival. It provides warmth, light, and the ability to cook food.
Starting a fire can be a pretty daunting task, especially if you're not familiar with any fire starting methods.
I made this article so that you can be confident in your fire starting abilities the next time you find yourself in need to start one.
The techniques we are going to talk about in today's article :
1:Cotton and ashes
2:Fire piston
3: Battery and steel wool
4:Flint and steel
5: Magnifying glass
1:Cotton and ashes

As stupid as it may sound, you actually can start a fire with the ashes of an extinguished one!
Simply take ashes in the remainings of an old fire and roll them in a little bit of cotton.
Then, roll it back and fourth as fast as you can until it starts to smoke then stop rolling it and blow until it turns into a little fire.
It's as simple as it sounds!
2:Fire piston

A small tool you should carry everytime you go in the woods!
A fire piston is a sealed syringe shaped object containing a small amount of timber.
When the end of the piston is forced downwards, the air inside of it heats up, causing the timber to ignite.
Then you shall carefully place the ignited timber in flammable material and blow to make it turn into a bigger fire.

3: Battery and steel wool

Batteries are objects of our day to day lives and believe it or not can be used to start a fire!
You can start a fire with a 9volt battery and a little bit of steel wool because steel wool is an electricity conductor. The surge of energy coming from the nine volt battery heats up the iron wich causes it to react with the oxygen in the air surrounding it.
To make such a reaction, you have to simply have to place the connectors of the battery on the steel wool.

4: Flint and steel

Flint and steel is one of the oldest fire starting method and is still really useful today!
To start a fire with one simply strike the flint against the steel repeatedly until your fire starts.

5: Magnifying glass

If you don't have any of the options listed above on you, you can still use any magnifying glass to start a fire!
If it's a sunny day out there, it's your lucky day. Simply orient the glass so that the sun's rays pass through it, then place any flammable material where the ray hit's and watch it as it turns into flames.
Thank you for reading!

Hopefully you learned new ways to start a fire in today's article!
Let's meet again next week for the upcoming article.
